Window cleaning in Murray, Utah

Century-old divided lites, new townhomes, and the storefronts in between.

Murray is two housing stocks sharing a city. There are the older homes near the center of town, many of them still carrying original divided-lite windows — the ones broken into small panes by muntin bars. Then there are the newer townhomes and condos that went up around Fireclay and Murray Central, where the glass is big, simple and often three stories off the ground.

Between them runs State Street and its storefronts. Our team works all three, and each one gets quoted differently — which is the whole reason we price by pane count.

Why Murray windows get dirty

  • Divided lites trap dirt at every edge. A window split into twelve small panes has twelve times the edge, and edges are where grime collects and where a rushed clean leaves lines behind.
  • Old putty and painted frames. Original wood sashes hold dust in the glazing line, so cleaning the glass without detailing the frame leaves the window looking half done.
  • Street traffic. Homes and businesses along State Street collect a fine road film that plain water does not lift.
  • Townhome glass is high and unshaded. The newer developments put large windows up three stories with nothing above them, so they take sun and weather directly.

Ember Plans for Murray homes

A home with a lot of small panes benefits more than most from a schedule: the work is in the edges, and edges are far quicker to keep clean than to rescue.

  • Ember BiAnnual — from $225/visit. Two visits a year, on the calendar so you do not have to think about it.
  • Ember Glow Quarterly — from $175/visit. Most Popular. Four visits a year with hard water removal included, plus Glow Protection to keep the glass cleaner between them.
  • Fire Monthly — from $145/visit. The one most of our State Street storefronts are on.

Pricing comes from your pane count and how many stories the home is at its tallest side. A pane is each separate piece of glass, so a divided-lite window counts every square — that is exactly why an older Murray home and a Fireclay townhome of the same square footage can land in different brackets. Our team confirms the number after reviewing the home. See the full plan details.

How often should Murray homes clean their windows?

Twice a year is the manufacturers' own recommendation and a sound baseline here. The homes we would move to quarterly are the ones on or near State Street, where road film builds faster, and any home where original sashes make a deep clean slower — keeping ahead of it costs less than catching up. Here is what Pella, Andersen and Marvin say.

Frequently asked questions

Our windows have lots of small panes. Does that cost more?

It does, and it is worth understanding why. Each separate piece of glass is its own edge to cut and its own surface to dry, so a divided-lite window takes several times the work of one large pane the same size. Pricing by pane count is what keeps that fair in both directions — you pay for the glass you actually have, not a flat rate that quietly overcharges the house next door with three big windows.

How do I count panes on an older Murray home?

You do not have to be exact. Count each separate piece of glass, so a standard window with a top and bottom section is two. If a window is divided into small squares, count the squares. Give us a rough number and our team confirms the figure when they look at the home.

Do you clean storefronts along State Street?

Yes — commercial glass is a large part of what we do, and the State Street corridor is a regular part of our week. Entry doors, display glass and the frames around them, on whatever frequency keeps them looking right.

We are in a newer townhome. Is there a minimum?

There is. The first pricing bracket is our minimum for a visit, because a smaller home still takes a truck, a drive and a setup. A townhome with a modest amount of glass is quoted at that bracket rather than prorated below it.
